- Information found: (Boesak, Allan; antiapartheid activist, religious reformer, Dutch reformed clergy; born 1945 in Kakamas, South Africa; graduated from Bellville Theological Seminary (1967); received a doctorate from Kampen Theological Institute, Holland; was a leader of Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) and major force in getting the World Alliance of Reformed Churches to declare apartheid a heresy (1982); called for the formation of United Democratic Front (UDF) (1983) and became its patron; was a leader of the African National Congress (ANC), Western Cape; was convicted of fraudulently diverting international donor funds during the UDF years to companies associated with his wife and sentenced to six years in prison for fraud and theft; after two years was controversially pardoned; resumed his church-based work; joined the Congress of the People (COPE) (2008-2010))
