  • Information found: (Chaney, James Earl; plasterer, civil rights activist; born 30 May 1943 in Meridian, Mississippi, United States. He entered Harris Junior College, Meridian (1959), but was expelled from the college (1960). He began working as a plasterer and joined the union (1961). He formally began his civil rights career in 1963; became a full-time organizer for CORE (1964); attended a training session for Freedom Summer volunteers in Oxford, Ohio (1964). He was killed by Deputy Price and members of the Ku Klux Klan, dying on 21 June 1964 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, United States)
