B. (1934) from the University of Mississippi; upon receiving his law degree, he joined the firm of Gardner, Denman and Everett (1934-1939) and in 1937 he married Clyde Bryant; after serving as Assistant Attorney General (1939-1941) he returned to private practice with the Brunini law firm of Vicksburg; interested in state history, he has served as President of the Mississippi Historical Society and written an account of lawyers in Vicksburg before the outbreak of War between the States; he was an organizer of the Mississippi Economic Council and was that organization's third president)
