NUCMC data from Amer. Jewish Archives for His Papers, 1958-1992 (David J. Zucker was born in Reno, Nev. in 1942 and was raised in Oakland, Calif. His parents, Rabbi and Mrs. John Zucker, served at Temple Beth Sholom, San Leandro, Calif. In 1969, David Zucker married Donna Hofeld. He graduated from the Cincinnati campus of Hebrew Union College-Institute of Religion in 1970 and received his doctorate from the University of Birmingham, England, in 1977. From 1970-1972, he served as rabbi at the Bradford Synagogue in Yorkshire, England. He then served as rabbi of the Birmingham Progressive Synagogue, Birmingham, England until 1979 when he returned to the U.S. and took a post at Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham, Ala. In 1984, he left Birmingham and served at United Hebrew Congregation in Springfield, Mo., until 1989. He then moved to Congregation Adat Shalom in Aurora, Colo. where he stayed until 1991. In 1994, he started working as a chaplain in Denver and Aurora, Colo. Zucker spent the rest of his career working as a chaplain in various administrative and leadership roles at Shalom Cares in Aurora, Colo. until his retirement in 2011)
